Children face significant emotional, social and educational pressures when growing
up, Sometimes when these pressures become more complicated professional help may
be needed.
Child psychotherapy is a type of help which is based on meeting regularly
with the child. Using play, stories and art the therapist tries to understand what
may be causing difficulties in the child’s or young person’s life.
Through the relationship
which the therapist establishes with the child over time certain difficult patterns
of behaviour can be re-created and relived in the therapeutic relationship.
This can
lead to deep and long lasting changes and improvements in the child's life and their
relationships with family and peers at school as well as an improvement in their
learning.
